No Shave November 2024
Grow Together, Fight Together
This November, it's more than just letting your hair grow—it's about coming together for a powerful cause. Whether you’re flying solo or forming a team, every effort helps raise awareness and funds for essential cancer education, prevention, and patient care. Your hair becomes a symbol of support for those battling cancer and sparks conversations that matter.
Here’s how it works:
What is No Shave November?
What started as a family initiative to honor their father who lost his battle with cancer, has since grown into a global movement.
Today, No Shave November encourages participants to use their natural hair growth to spark conversations around cancer prevention, early detection, and the resources needed for patients and families during their fight.
The History of No Shave November
In 2009, the Hill family launched No Shave November to honor their father, Matthew Hill, who lost his battle with colon cancer in 2007.
What began as a simple Facebook campaign has since evolved into a global movement that brings people together for a meaningful cause—raising awareness and supporting those affected by cancer.
Matthew’s family encouraged participants to stop shaving and donate their grooming expenses to cancer organizations. This practice quickly resonated with communities worldwide, turning hair growth into a symbol of solidarity.
By 2021, No Shave November partnered with the American Cancer Fund to amplify its impact and has since raised millions of dollars for cancer education and patient support.
Join us in the fight against cancer by growing your hair, raising awareness, and making a difference. Every donation helps provide critical resources for those who need it most.
No Shave November is a month-long campaign where participants stop shaving and grooming to raise awareness for cancer. The goal is to spark conversations about cancer prevention and encourage donations that support cancer education, research, and patient care.
Participants let their hair grow naturally throughout November, embracing what cancer patients often lose. Instead of spending money on grooming, participants donate those funds to organizations that provide resources for cancer patients and their families. You can also raise money by creating a fundraising page and asking friends and family to donate.
Anyone and everyone can join! It doesn’t matter if you can grow a full beard or not. Men, women, children—everyone is encouraged to participate in their own way. If growing hair isn't an option, participants can support the cause by donating or encouraging others to join.

Funds raised during No Shave November support cancer education, prevention programs, and patient support services. The American Cancer Fund is one of the main beneficiaries, helping provide resources and education for those battling cancer and their families.
There is no minimum donation or fundraising requirement. Every dollar counts, and whether you raise $5 or $500, your efforts will make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
No worries! No Shave November isn’t just about growing facial hair. You can skip any grooming routine—whether it’s shaving, waxing, or trimming—and still participate. The important part is spreading awareness and raising funds. You can also support others by donating or sharing their fundraising page.
Absolutely! No Shave November is for everyone, regardless of gender. Women can participate by skipping their usual grooming routines or supporting the cause through donations and fundraising efforts. You can also encourage others to join!
No, No Shave November and Movember are two separate initiatives with similar goals. Movember focuses on men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, while No Shave November raises awareness for cancer prevention and education. However, both campaigns promote awareness and fundraising for important causes.
